Jessica's Story
Hi! Thank you for taking the time to check out my page. I look forward to potentially working together on your mental health journey here at Be Your Best Self & Thrive.
I was born and raised in a small town in central New Jersey. I came into this world as an old soul with the gift of music starting with piano at the age of 3. I learn through listening and discovered later in life that this would be one of my greatest strengths, however it took years for me to see it this way. Growing up I had a deep inner knowing that I was different. I have Dyslexia, ADHD, and I’m Queer which for me translates to: everything is music, I am embodied, love is love and we are here to love and be loved.
I graduated from Arcadia University in 2009 with a B.A in Psychology and double minored in Sociology and Women’s Studies. I then studied yoga and nutrition and became a 500 hour yoga instructor and a certified holistic health coach. Holistic care deeply resonates with me and I realized that community and authentic relating were missing from my knowledge base. Community is what brought me to St. Pete over 7 years ago and I embarked on a 6 year journey as a founder and operator of a circus arts facility and community space in downtown St. Pete called The Movement Sanctuary where I gained more knowledge and experience than I ever could have imagined. I am now 3 years into my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Saybrook University.
The intention behind my path towards becoming a therapist has been fueled by my passion to support others on their healing journey to the best of my ability from a well rounded and informed place. I have gained a lot of knowledge through my studies and life experiences as an entrepreneur, yoga instructor, health coach, traveler, life long learner, mother, and wife and all of this brings me to you today.
My work comes from a person-centered approach, meaning I believe that together we can explore your concerns and goals as a team with you as the captain. I come from an integrative approach which gives us the ability to utilize tools from different schools of thought that are complementary in nature such as yoga, meditation, and nutrition. It is my goal to assist you in gaining a deeper understanding of what may be disrupting the flow of your life. Together we can explore how we can potentially restructure your thoughts, feelings, actions and relationships in the direction you most desire within a safe space and judgment free place with me and Be Your Best Self & Thrive.
